Ajax devices are seriously efficient — most detectors run for years on their original batteries, with some lasting up to 7 years depending on the device and settings. You don't need to keep track yourself: the Ajax app warns you well in advance when a battery is running low, and we can replace them for you if you'd rather not do it yourself.
Ajax systems are certified to EN 50131 Grade 2 — the European standard for professional intruder alarms and the grade most home insurers expect. In plain English: it's designed to defeat intruders using common tools and techniques, which covers the overwhelming majority of domestic burglaries.
We get asked this a lot, and it's a fair question. Ajax uses its own encrypted radio protocol (Jeweller) that constantly monitors for interference. If someone attempts to jam the signal, the system detects it, hops to a clean frequency, and alerts you — and the monitoring station if you have monitoring — immediately. Tampering with or removing a device also triggers an instant alert. No system on earth is "unbeatable", but jamming an Ajax system silently isn't realistic.
The hub has a built-in backup battery that keeps it running for hours during a power cut, and a SIM card backup keeps it connected even if your broadband drops. You'd get a notification either way — the system never just goes quiet without telling you.
No — it's optional. Many customers self-monitor through the app, which alerts your phone instantly. Our 24/7 monitoring is there if you want someone watching even when your phone's on silent at 3am. We'll explain both honestly and you choose — no pressure.
No — we fit pet-immune motion detectors that ignore animals up to a certain size and height. Tell us about your pets during the survey and we'll choose and position everything accordingly.
Ajax is wireless, so there's no channelling cables through walls or lifting carpets. A typical home installation takes a few hours, and we leave your home exactly as we found it.

Yes — and we actually build it in. By law, you have a 14-day cooling-off period after signing up, and unlike some companies, we don't rush to install before it ends. We'd rather you take your time and feel completely sure. If you change your mind within those 14 days, you can cancel with no fuss and no hard feelings. It's exactly the kind of practice we used to enforce in Trading Standards — so you can bet we follow it ourselves.
